Summary
2ch.ru (Russian: dvach) was a Russian imageboard modeled after 4chan. It once contained more than 40 boards and was the birthplace of many confusing Russian memes, which are like funhouse mirror versions of the more familiar English-language memes.
Origins
The site was created in 2006 by the Russian version of moot, known as Zoi. Little is known beyond this.
Current status
Zoi abandoned the site in 2009, as the police and KGB had taken an interest in it due to the boards being flooded with porn and CP. Most users relocated to 2-ch.ru (Russian: tirech), a clone of the original site.
