Wikipe-tan's dark nemesis, and mascot of Encyclopedia Dramatica

Summary

æ-tan (also known as ED-tan, albeit rarely) is the moe personification and mascot of Encyclopædia Dramatica. She is the arch rival of Wikipe-tan, Wikipedia's unofficial moe mascot.

Origins

Because TOW had their own anime mascot, Sheneequa, one of ED's bureaucrats and known welfare check collector, proposed that ED too should have an anime mascot of their own. Thus æ-tan was conceived. Though when the æ-tan concept was in process, Sheneequa debated whether she would be a "super slut" or a "dick girl". There, it would be decided that Mungbean (formerly known as Fapman) would be the artist behind æ-tan's creation. Because of this, he was rewarded with a promotion to sysops.

Current status

Ae-tan later became Ohi-tan.

On the day ED was shut down for good and turned into OhInternet, æ-tan's status was questioned. Was she going to continue be used as the new site's mascot or would there be a new one entirely? Rather than be dished and replaced by a completely new moe personification, she too underwent a transformation: being more mature, cutting her hair and getting a makeover. There, æ-tan went on and became Ohi-tan. Just like previously, Mungbean was also responsible for her illustrating her design.
