Alex Jones is a radio personality and filmmaker who hosts a radio show as well as several message boards, all focusing on the myriad conspiracy theories floating around the Internet. The show broadcasts all over the United States on AM/FM radio as well as the Internet.
He holds controversial views on several matters, including:
- The 9/11 attacks were perpetrated by the US government, not by radical Muslim terrorists.
- The Branch Davidian cult, led by David Koresh, was not a cult centered around a pedophile with a messiah complex, but a peaceful group that was murdered by the US government.
- There's a New World Order on its way, and we sheeple need to wake up.
His fanbase (which extends beyond his personal forums) hangs on his every word, and anyone who has a differing opinion than him that tries to make their voice known on his forum are shouted down and banned, with the users calling the dissident a government shill - proof that people only like free speech if it meshes with their own opinion.
He had a public access radio show in the 1990s, and released his first film, 'American Destroyed By Design' in 1998.
Rise to fame
Being a loud guy with views that mesh well with the independent yet paranoid spirit of the Internet, his shows became popular among the denizens of the Web and now he runs Infowars and Prisonplanet on top of hosting his radio show.
Still popular as ever, and with the growing discontent of the American populace, it is likely he will garner even more attention and listeners.
