Bing
Search engine owned by Microsoft.
Summary
Bing is a search engine unveiled by Microsoft in 2009. It is considered a Google competitor, and it is also what powers Yahoo's search engine. Bing wishes to be a Google Killer, but has not had much luck.
Bing is beloved for its lovely images that have a searchbar in them. These images change once a day, and are usually of worldly locations.
Origins
Bing was released in 2009 as a successor to MSN Search, Windows Live Search, and Live Search. It became known via a series of marketing ads that claimed people were suffering from "search overload." These ads implied that Bing gave better, more relevant results. There has not been any evidence to support this.
Almost from the get-go, there has been controversy suggesting that Bing uses Google's results.
Current status
Despite being a butt of many jokes, Bing has managed to become a top 20 website. Google continues to have 85% of the world's search engine market share. Bing and Yahoo combine for 10%, suggesting there is a long way to go for anyone to compete with Google.
Bing currently censors search results in countries that require this by law. However, one can easily change their location to be from another country where this censorship doesn't exist in the preferences.
