Summary

The Black Out Band is a group of kids who played their smash-hit song, Video Games, and uploaded it to YouTube. The song is about the kids wanting to play video games all the time and do nothing else and be useless. Their video game playing has caused them to lose so much intelligence that they cannot remember their names.

The song was mostly written by mother of the singer. She then had the kids in a music video which she paid for. Just by watching the video, you can tell that the kids aren't really all that into it.

Once the video was uploaded on YouTube, it gained a lot of attention. Negative attention. The singer's glaring Southern drawl ("Ya hurrdd?") and ridiculous lyrics gained the attention of /v/ amongst others. The "JUSS WANNA PLAY VIDYO GAEMS!" line has almost became some sort of meme in itself.

Origins

The kids in the Black Out Band are Hunter, the singer and lead guitarist, Matthew, the drummer, and Tug, the bassist. They are influenced by Led Zeppelin.

Rise to fame

/v/ and other sites have propelled the video into thousands upon thousands of hits just because of how stupid it was. It was also mentioned on Cracked.com, where the author of said article believes the kids really don't want to be in a band and would rather play ball outside or something.

Current status

Their site is still under construction. Nobody really knows what the kids think of their song now. They may be laughing at it and calling it "lame" considering they're probably in their teens by now.
