Summary
Bob Parsons is the founder and CEO of The Go Daddy Group, Inc., a family of companies comprising three domain name registrars, including flagship/Death Star registrar GoDaddy.com, reseller registrar Wild West Domains and Blue Razor Domains. Other affiliated companies include Domains by Proxy Inc., a domain privacy company, and Starfield Technologies, the group's technology development arm.
He is also considered by many to be a total and complete jerk. Bob Parsons was recently denounced by several animal rights groups for tweeting a video of him shooting an elephant. In a thinly veiled attempt of an apology, Parsons explained, "The tribal authorities requested that I and others like me patrol the fields before and during the harvest." Tweeting the video was merely a chance for Mr. Parsons to flaunt his incredible machismo.
Origins
Parsons was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Please do not let this reflect poorly on the citizens of the great city of Baltimore.
Rise to fame
In 1984, Bob founded Parsons Technology in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and began selling MoneyCounts, a home accounting program. Later in 1987, Parsons was able to quit his job and focus completely on selling and programming MoneyCounts. Eventually, Parsons Technology grew to have over 1,000 employees. On September 27, 1994, Parsons completed the sale of Parsons Technology to Intuit for $64 million.
Current status
As of April 2011, shooting himself in the foot via shooting an elephant in the head.
