Summary
BonziBUDDY was a program that offered Bonzi, a purple gorilla, as a companion for newbie internet users. They wanted somebody to tell jokes, check their e-mail, tell facts, etc.
But the gorilla had many skeletons in his closet. He spied on users and spammed advertisements. When the little old ladies found his deception, they were disgusted.
A lawsuit was filed against the Bonzi Corporation in 2002, and it shut down in 2005.
