The explanation for /b/'s recent quality degradation.

Summary
Cancer is a term that originated from the 4chan boards, and refers to 4chan's lack/decline of quality over the years. There are many origin points blamed for causing this disaster. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- the admin team
- the entire userbase: from the nubs and the vets
- the large amount of nubs that come to the board, namely in the summer
- overuse of forced memes
- raids
- Encyclopedia Dramatica
Of course, this really is just a cover up for the fact that /b/ has always been poor in quality, and to give older /b/tards a sense of superiority over the large amount of newer users. Though at this point, both new and old users have become indistinguishable from one another.
Origins
4chan posters have used it as a term to refer to how the quality of posts in /b/ have become worse over the years, from about 2005 onwards. The main origin of cancer is often linked to the events of /b/day.
Current status
Still used, and easily a forced meme, effectively making it cancer to /b/.
