Summary
Cockmongler (also known as Richard C. Mongler, Grinman) is one of the oldest of old memes, going back in chan history almost to the very beginning. The meme features a smiling man photoshopped in varying ways. He is also in many videos and flash animations. His eccentric smile has come to define chan culture and is still quite beloved by most imageboard users.
Origins
The original image was taken from a website for "The Worlds Largest Dinosaur" in Alberta Canada. An archive for the site can be found here.
Grinman
"Grinman" is a troll nickname of Cockmongler, used to either convince newfriends the actual name of the meme is Grinman, or troll oldfriends by pretending to not know any better. Grinman is also followed by the text "Grinman likes to grin," to further add to the trolling.
Current status
Cockmongler is quite the old meme, but anyone who's been on 4chan long enough will recognize this man's toothy grin as fond memories.
