A multimedia platform for internet pages.
Adobe Flash is an internet technology for presenting multimedia inside a web browser. Flash is capable of displaying images and animations, playing sounds, and manipulating user input. Flash is used to create games and to build interactive websites. YouTube and other video-sharing websites use Flash.
Flash was originally invented by a company called Macromedia. Adobe bought Macromedia and Flash is now an Adobe product.
Many mobile browsers can't display Flash. The HTML5 Canvas element was invented to fill the gap. However, Flash still powers most of the interactive and multimedia websites on the internet, including such heavyweights as YouTube.
- Apple refuses to add Flash to the iPhone because of stability issues.
