Summary

Fortresscraft is a video game available on Xbox 360. It's often recognized for the fact that it very similar to the popular Indie game Minecraft released on the PC. However in Fortresscraft's defense, Minecraft is very alike another Indie game which was previously released called Infiminer. Mojang (the creator of Minecraft) has confirmed that he got his 'inspiration' from Infiminer.

Putting it bluntly, Minecraft is a copy of Infiminer, and Fortresscraft is a copy of Minecraft but on a different system. Minecraft having gotten popular gained a lot of good press and many fanboys. Fortresscraft bringing the same game to a console with a different name was looked at as a copy. Although it is often overlooked that Minecraft is also a copy.

DJ Arcas (the pseudonym used by the creator of Fortresscraft) has stated that he got his inspiration from vaguely similar games Dungeon Keeper and Team Fortress 2. He has also proved that he started making Fortresscraft before Mojang started making Minecraft, but he abandoned the idea due to a slow fraps. After finally getting inspired further by something Minecraft accomplished (which he couldn't figure out) he then made Fortresscraft.

Current status

There's speculation that Mojang AB was going to sue FortressCraft's creators for fraud, but so far, this is a lie. It may happen soon though.
