- Date Discovered: ??/????
- Discovered On: 2chan
Summary
"Gaijin 4Koma" (Japanese, 外人四こま, "4-frame foreigners") A.K.A. "reaction guys" A.K.A. "that meme with the four guys, you know the one" is a classic 4chan meme appropriated from 2chan typically consisting of a montage of four panels. Two of these panels depict four guys reacting to shit.
Needless to say, 4chan's /b/tards saw this as a prime candidate for Photoshopping, and a meme was born.
Format
Though it can often be expanded to more than four panels, the standard format of the meme is:
- Panel 1: A regular, everyday picture.
- Panel 2: Bored reaction.
- Panel 3: A picture that's crazy.
- Panel 4: Cheering.
A common variant is as follows:
- Panel 1: A regular, everyday picture.
- Panel 2: Bored reaction.
- Panel 3: A picture of someone with an unusual facial expression.
- Panel 4: Cheering, with the same face Photoshopped onto each cheering face.
Origins
It was created at 2chan but has hit the western part of the Internet.
Current status
Still popular to this day.
Facts
- The guys in the first image and the guys in the second are actually Matt Casamassina, Craig Harris, Chadd Chambers, and Peer Schneider, all IGN employees. Strangely enough, they're in THAT order both times, from back to front.
- Not to be confused with Reaction Guy.
