Harbl is a euphemism for genitalia, especially cat genitalia. Harbl usually refers to male genitalia, although female genitalia are sometimes referred to in this way.

Harbl is thought to have emerged on 4chan's /b/ board, when the moderators wordfiltered the word "cock" with the cryptic "harbl". It is not known why harbl was chosen as the replacement word, but some argue harbl is a reference to "hairball". This theory has a hole, since hairballs come out of cats mouths, not their genital areas.

Common usage

Typically, harbl is used on image macros, often of a strategically posed cat, often with a caption asserting that the cat's harbls are being warmed, stroked, and so on.
