Summary

The Haunted Majora's Mask Cartridge is both a creepypasta and a series of hacked videos from the already creepy Zelda game Majora's Mask. The story begins when a sophomore college student purchases a copy of the game from an old man at a yard sale. He proceeds to play the game and notices some very disturbing differences from the original games such as distorted graphics, random deaths, a inverse version of the music, as well as strange save files that appear at random. These events are also accompanied by "Ben", the deceased previous owner of the cartridge who haunts the player as he progresses in the game. It is best to read the creepypasta and watch the YouTube videos together to get the full effect of the story. This is highly recommended for fans of the Zelda series. It was later found that the game was acutally a modified ROM used on an emulator.

Origins

Apparently it originated on /x/, as seen in the gallery below. Then, YouTube videos were created showing what happened.

Current status

It had its fifteen minutes of fame, but is still often quoted.
