India
The IT capital of the world
Summary
India is a country in south Asia known for its IT industry, its huge population (it's second to China), and its Bollywood films. English and Hindi are the official languages of the entire country, but people have many, many mother tongues spoken throughout India.
In terms of social networks, Indians are common at Orkut, Google's social networking site that also has a lot of Brazilians. India is also the point of origin of several memes, including How Can She Slap?, Golimar, the Little Superstar, and Tunak Tunak Tun Dance.
Origins
India was ruled by several empires before the British colonized it. The British gave the gifts of modern infrastructure and the English language. In 1949 the British partitioned the British India territory into "India" and "Pakistan."
So many Indians work in the IT industry because it's out of the caste system. In many parts of India people are born into castes which determine their occupations and social standing. However IT didn't exist at the time the caste systems were formed, so anybody who is skilled enough can go into the IT trade and get out of his or her caste.
Current status
Still in a pissing contest with Pakistan. Nuclear weapons are involved.
