Netscape
A company that once had the dominant web browser, now a web portal and low rate ISP.
Summary
How the mighty have fallen! Netscape Corporation had Netscape Navigator/Communicator, once the web browser in the 1990s. Everyone used it, everyone loved it. Then when Microsoft began including Internet Explorer on Windows machines, Netscape market share began to decline. This led to an antitrust issue involving Microsoft in several court systems.
AOL bought out Netscape, and eventually the Netscape browser stopped development, as its marketshare had plummeted so much. Mozilla Firefox took its place.
Current status
Now humming along as an obscure ISP.
