Summary
Omegle is an unmoderated, anonymous chat site. The site's goal is for users to communicate with people they would otherwise never talk to. Unfortunately, the result is largely /b/ in one on one form. An hour of chatting nearly guarantees being offered penis pictures and being called at least three racial slurs.
Omegle is a very popular site for screenshots. This is likely because of the sizable troll and btard populations. It is VERY hard to get banned from omegle.
Origins
Omegle was launched March 25, 2009 by an 18 year old from Vermont. It was getting 150,000 viewers within a month of launch.
Current status
Omegle now offers text and video chat options, the latter being similar to competitor chat roulette. There are now some wordfilters. If your partner says "FBI", you will get a message stating "If the above message says you have been reported to the FBI, it is not legitimate. Please ignore it."
Facts
- Some users try to play "tag", where they keep disconnecting and reconnecting until they find the person they were looking for.
- No matter how hilarious you find your omegle log, others probably won't find it that funny.
