Summary

P2P, also known as peer-to-peer, is a kind of computer software that allows their users to download a wide range of files from other members of the same network. They will also occasionally offer other services such as chat rooms or an in-built IRC client. When the user wants to download a file, the software will return a list of all peers which have that file available to download and the user will pick one or more from which to download said file.

Because P2P is incredibly convenient, especially on larger networks, the developers and users of the software often come under fire for promoting the theft of other peoples' copyrighted materials. Tsk tsk.
