Pool's closed
An event to show non-tolerance against racism as well as for the lulz.
- Date Discovered: 07/2006
- Discovered On: Habbo Hotel
Summary
Pool's closed is an expression used during raids conducted against Habbo Hotel gameworld, where trolls block off the only entrance to the pool on the eponymous hotel.
Origins
Habbo raids were practiced by users on Something Awful (and possibly YTMND) as early as 2004, but the Pool's Closed meme came into being during 2006 when users of 4chan's /b/ found out that the mods at Habbo Hotel were racists due to them needlessly banning African-influenced characters. They decided to dress up as stylish black men in business suits with giant afros to mock the mods and block off popular areas of the game. Especially the pool, due to the ease of blocking an area that has only one entrance.
Current status
Pool's Closed is used and celebrated every year on July 12th, when the /b/tards raid Habbo Hotel and let them know that they will not tolerate racism, as well as having the opportunity to generate lulz.
