Summary

Potter Puppet Pals was created by Neil Cicierega of the one-man band Lemon Demon in 2003. The first two episodes, "Bothering Snape" and "Trouble at Hogwarts," were animated by Neil in Adobe (then Microsoft) Flash.

Several years later, the skits reappeared on Neil's YouTube channel in live-action puppet form, and became one of the biggest YouTube sensations of the turn of the millennium. The episode "The Mysterious Ticking Noise" in particular was one of the most-viewed YouTube videos of all time, and "Wizard Swears" and "Potions Class" were pretty popular too. Along with "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny," the series cemented Neil Cicierega's reputation after previous success inventing Animutations.

The Potter Puppet Pals cast includes the narcissistic Harry, the childish and effeminate Ron, the Mary Sue Hermione, the constantly nude Dumbledore, the lackluster Snape, and the evil "Voldy." Neil has not added new puppets to the cast since the second Flash cartoon, with the exception of Neville Longbottom (played by a squash) and Draco Malfoy (a very crudely-made and tiny puppet which died shortly after being introduced).

Current status

Neil is going on tour with a Harry Potter fan-band named Harry and the Potters. The puppets from this series will be included in the concerts. No, really.
