Summary

Profit is an oft used text meme that partners with ???? to turn anything into cash. From stolen underpants to philosophy degrees, it can be turned into profit. The goal in life is to obtain as much profit as possible, so the ability to use ???? to convert anything into profit is obviously a covetous ability.

Profit usually refers to money, but can sometimes refer to drugs, sex, or delicious food.


The following is the prescribed way to instruct someone on how to gain profit, normally sarcastically.

  1. Step one
  2. Step two
  3. ????
  4. PROFIT!!!

This construction is often used and 3 to 5 steps is usually the format. Longer may only be used in the event of truly epic lulz potential. An example for idiots follows.

  1. Accuse Saddam of having weapons of mass destruction
  2. Invade Iraq
  3. Walk around for a while, kill some innocents
  4. ????
  5. PROFIT!!!
or
  1. Film Loose Change after smoking weed
  2. Protest in everywhere and yell at Bush
  3. ????
  4. PROFIT!!!
or
  1. Get girlfriend ready for sex
  2. Turn off lights
  3. Leave and have dad enter room

Origins

Profit originated on a 1998 episode of South Park. In this episode, gnomes steal peoples' underpants. When the protagonists bust them for this, they explain their formula:

  1. Collect Underpants
  2. ?
  3. Profit

The internet turned ? into ???? and generally puts PROFIT in ALL CAPS.

As the Internet is full of young people who quote South Park, many quoted this and applied it to just about any situation. Whenever something doesn't seem to make much sense, just add #???? #PROFIT!. This is also often appended to the end of just about any directional list.
