Rebecca Black

An auto-tuned American teenager who wants to have fun fun fun fun on Friday.

Summary

In January, Rebecca Black, an American teenager, created the now infamously bad pop tune Friday. Uploaded in February 2011 by production studio Ark Music, Rebecca's video soon soared into popularity around mid-March 2011. The song now has over 100 million views on Youtube alone, making one of the most popular videos to have ever gone viral. The video itself though is popular for all of the wrong reasons. The lyrics are horrendous and laughable and the music is stereotypically pop. The music video follows Rebecca on her Friday as she drives and parties with her under-age friends and her rapping chauffeur who seems to strongly resemble pop rapper Usher.

Origins

Was created on a $4,000 budget by teen Rebecca Black and studio-for-rent Ark Music Factory.

Rise to fame

Was picked up on by 4chan users and quickly spread into mainstream popularity.

Current status

Rebecca has since sued Ark for contract infringement.

Homeschooled

On August 10 2011 it was reported that Rebecca was forced to quit her public school and be home schooled due to excessive bullying by her classmates.
