/a/ (Animu & Mango), is on … /a/ (Animu & Mango), is one of the veteran boards from 4chan. It is the board to discuss anime (as its name suggests), though it's hardly discussed at all to no one's surprise. /a/, along with /v/, are the two most raided boards on 4chan next to the hentai board. Others, do not at all. In its earlier days, the board was filled with norps who discussed mainstream anime that today's demographic of the board detest and would instantly sage and report the threads. The board is also known for their apparent Tripfag circle, with most of them trying to make a name for themselves on an anonymous board.
Being one of the most popular boards on 4chan, it's also one of the least tame and has also churned out a few memes of its own, many of which are now considered "classics" once they got on /b/, such as Desu and many other earlier memes. Furthermore, it has gained notoriety for the popularity of the term "weeaboo", since Moot filtered the word "Wapanese". Considering the fact that the place was filled with otaku, of course they would be offended by the term "Wapanese".

While /a/ endures a love-hate relationship with /co/ and /jp/, their content is not too different. Expect the typical channer behavior; dubs, threads that go unrelated after the third post, drawfag threads, and the ever so elusive "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE" thread. Unlike /b/, /a/ seems to have people with far more rationality and can occasionally have discussions about anime, even having made an anime recommendation list. Even though /a/nons will sometimes legitimately discuss anime, but more often than not, /a/nons will discuss a character's sexuality (stated or otherwise), how their Waifu is now "impure with the taint of another man", their obsessional belief that they will be with their waifus one day, and internet slap fights. To no surprise are requests for anime recommendation threads plastered with Boku No Pico (just another fan serviced sexual anime, but with little boys), mostly by the same unfunny underagedb&s. A similar issue resides within Yu-Gi-Oh! threads, which are almost instantly turned into dub or "The King Games" (trying to get a 5 in your post) threads. Additionally, like /v/, /a/ is filled with an endless array of >greentext copypastas that deal with situations such as incest, tag and tripcode circlejerks.
The Typical /a/non
In many ways, /a/ can be described as taking the retardation that is /v/, sprinkling it with weeaboo that is /jp/, and the sheer elitism and loneliness that is Sankaku Complex plus a very small dosage of typical cancer that is found on neighboring boards on 4chan. Though most /a/nons, it seems, realize their waifu and sexuality discussions are ridiculous, and to some degree, discuss them tongue in cheek. Others, mainly moebros, do not and believe with full absolute that they will marry their waifu.
/a/ is also known for their scarcity of female posters, otherwise known as “femanons”. For a time being, back when 4chan was still obsessing over Azumanga Daioh and Yotsuba, there were occasional female posters. However, as the time began to fly and Japanese anime began to be mainly focus on cute high school girls doing cute things, many of them started losing interest. The neckbeards that made up /a/’s demographic began to monopolize, thus every thread being kvetching of their non-existent social lives, waifus, flat chested little girls, and their apparent fetish for moe anime. The end result scared off any female posters, proving once again that there are no girls on the internet.
One apparent characteristic that stands out like the blemishes on their hideous faces is how they antagonize any overrated shonens (most likely the Big Three: One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach) despite liking them before they started visiting /a/. Even the slightest mention of these three will activate their acrimony. Another noticeable trait /a/nons seem to have is their disgust for IRL women, or as they address them, 3DPD (3D Pig Disgusting). Even CGI are considered repulsive by the bloodshot eyes of the typical inhabitant of the animu board. The obvious conclusion to this strange behavior is that /a/nons usually have had bad encounters or never had any social interaction with the female specimen of the human species.
Moebros
Moebros are those whom obsess over moe anime. In many ways, they can be compared to that of bronies, in that they offer nothing but annoyance to everybody within the board. Moebros were first introduced when Lucky Star came into the scene, as this outlandish anime was unfamiliar for the typical /a/non. In a nutshell, it contained all the elements of a typical bad anime; odd hair colors, high-pitched voices that would make your ears bleed, and plenty of pantsu shots as well as any other typical fan service. But rather than rely on the usual sexy theme, it relied on something more cute and adorable. Much of /a/ resented this style of anime, while a small minority fell in love with the ultra-kawaii styling of it as many of the doujins that came with moeblobs (i.e. Lonely Kagami, which had turned much of /a/ into a softcore anime lesbian fest).
The Moebros, as well as the whole moe industry, began to sky-rocket and spread. Soon, other moeblob animus began to emerge such as K-On! (which was nothing more but a show about cute high school girls having tea time and eating cake). Soon, this created tons of meta threads complaining about moeblobs and how they ruined anime. From the sheer madness of it all, this created Moetron, which is a manifestation of many noticeable moe character, with their conspicuous physical characteristic, all into one moeblob.
This is where the large mass of waifu worship comes from, since these fans are typically the hardcore otaku. ans are typically the hardcore otaku.
