"Star Wars Kid" is a viral video of an overweight Canadian kid swinging around a golf ball retriever as if it were a Star Wars lightsaber in the style of Darth Maul's double-bladed one. The video became a hit because of the hilarity due to the boy's lack of proper coordination of using the swinger as a staff, nearly falling, and making kid-like swoosh sound effects, as he was pretending he was in a Star Wars light saber duel. Since it's rise to internet stardom, the Star Wars Kid was constantly mocked and ridiculed, both in real life and on the internet.

Despite the damage it has caused him, Star Wars kid did manage to get a free iPod out of this whole ordeal.

Origins

A kid in Quebec, Canada filmed himself at his high school swinging around a golf ball retriever like a staff. A classmate discovered the video and showed it to a friend while for some reason thinking it was supposed to be a lightsaber. That kid made a digital recording of the video and then passed it on to other students. One of them was the one that put the video online.

The subject of the video faced misery and proceeded to sue the students who distributed and uploaded the video. An out of court settlement and a permanent spot in the Youtube hall of fame was the result.

Current status

His current whereabouts and status are unknown but it can be speculated that as of 2011, Star Wars Kid has most likely already graduated from the High School he was attending at the time the video was made.
