Summary
You Mad or U MAD is used, often in image macros, to point out when someone is taking something too seriously OTI. As it is a very adaptable meme, and as anger is a common occurrence online, it has mutated and spread widely. Inevitably, people who are unaware of the origins of U MAD will slap a question mark at the end, effectively taking all the sting out of the statement and revealing their n00b status.
Origins
On November 12, 2003, rapper Cam'ron and music producer Damon Dash appeared on The O'Reilly Factor to discuss rap music's supposed harmful effect on inner-city students. Bill O'Reilly became flustered mid-interview and would not let Damon Dash make his point defending his record company when Cam'ron dropped the line that birthed a great meme:
