Hi Ket

<3 --Entropy 01:02, 20 April 2011 (EDT)

  • D'aww, I didn't think I'd be remembered. <3-Ket 01:29, 20 April 2011 (EDT)
  • I know who you are too and I don't think you were around when I was. I saw Ket in the Today's Top 10 and I was like "what".--GondorCanada 05:11, 20 April 2011 (EDT)
  • Haha, no worries. I think I was a bit before your time but that's cool, nice to meet you. I heard about the change in direction (first thing I'd heard about the old site for a while, so I was rather surprised and curious) on a site I frequent, saw that there's a few folks I remember hanging around and thought I'd contribute using my semi-competent writing skills here and there, hence the recent changes spamming and me getting in the Top 10 thing :P-Ket 06:50, 20 April 2011 (EDT)

Asian websites

Thanks! :)

I do think that OI needs to cover internet cultures of other countries, so I added some stuff about China and Korea. VitsankMorris 04:19, 7 May 2011 (EDT)

  • Yeah, I know some Chinese people, and when they want to search for something they go to Baidu first - It's an odd culture shock
  • IMO I think OI should set profiles on some of those websites to get more people - in particular Dailymotion of France and Orkut (for people in India who speak English) - I wonder if Nico Nico Douga would be a good choice too...

C Sharp

Hey, how about just writing an article about .NET and discussing C#, J#, J++, etc. in that article? Kill a few birds with one stone and avoid having nasty stubs.

  • That's not a half bad idea, actually. It'd be have a good comprehensive article about all the .NET languages and the framework rather than a bunch of little stubs about languages nobody cares much about anymore (I'm looking at you, J++/J#). And if any of the languages did demand an entire article to themselves you could just move them out into their own page with a small summary on the .NET page, so it isn't like we're losing anything-Ket 00:16, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
    • C# and Visual Basic are the only .NET languages that are important enough to merit their own pages in an encyclopedia, but this is an Internet-centric wiki, and these languages aren't particularly internets-connected. I say this: Write a .NET article (I'm no windows dev, someone else has to catch this) and mention, alongside C# and VB, Microsoft's hilarious failures to clone Java. Redirect all related languages (MSVC++, C#, J#, J++) to .NET. Create other articles for Silverlight and Mono. Done. Note that we'll have to do the same trick for J# as for C# - make J Sharp and J redirect to .NET.
I saw what you said about C♯ on OI:N and removed it. I redirected that to C Sharp because C♯ is too hard to type, so most people would rather link to C Sharp when they write articles. I also went to C and added an "Are you looking for C#?" line to the top.

  • That is something I can agree with; those languages aren't exactly internet related on their own merits. That has more to do with them being used in conjunction with ASP.NET I guess and I don't think anyone particularly cares about those languages outside of the context of .NET anyways. And good job with adding the links for C sharp to those pages, I don't see any problem with that-Ket 00:50, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
  • Thanks man. Figured I might as well make the job easier for whoever goes and writes C Sharp. btw reply on MY talk page not YOUR talk page :P

Re:Hai

The only reason I have a slight grudge against this site is because it killed ED. You try and push that to the back of you're mind, but ED was up there with 4chan in terms of Internet relevance. This site is more like a KnowYourMeme/ROCKETBOOM style site, as this wiki barely resembles any kind of wiki I have ever seen before in my life. I wrote that negative comment about ED because it was shortly after the event, and I was still pissed ( encyclopediadramatica.ch was relatively new at that time, and I didn't like the people running LurkMoarPedia ), but this site's OK in it's own kind of way. Ok then, see you later, bye! - Another n00b 15:01, 27 June 2011 (EDT)
