Image cats

Wikipedia Copying

My enthusiasm is not feigned, however I witnessed Encyclopedia Dramatica descend into a dungeon of overly-comic, slapstick atrocities. I wanted this 'wiki' to have respectable information on how we are doing what we're doing today (using the internet). Some of the articles on Wikipedia are far too big to compress, and each bit is as important as the last. I wasn't sure of an alternative of conveying the history of these influential, somewhat biblical, figures in our history without taking directly from the well-informed Wikipedia articles.

I sincerely apologise, and I'll find other ways to only be influenced by the articles rather than just copy-and-pasting from them. Thank you for notifying me of my mistake.

Needed Page

I'm guessing OI doesn't want a lot of the pages that are on the Needed list, like 'Atheists' and some more inappropriate ones that have nothing to do with the internet? A lot of the stuff on there seems quite far away from what you've outlined you want from OI, so I'm little confused as to what needs to be added and/or edited. I don't want to be adding things about a Habbo Raid that would be largely ED-like if it's not wanted, or adding things about Adolf Hitler if I'll just get banned for it.

Why cant I post this in the Bulletin Board?

It seems the place to post it considering that you have no forums and no place for asking questions or answering them. I was unable to post there for the reason "Potty Mouth". I will paste what I tried to post below. I checked it over for foul language and could not find any.

Title is: A few suggestions Look, I am fine with the fact that you took down EncyclopediaD and I suspect that all the other editors and readers of those articles would have been fine with it as well except for a few reasons: First you took it down with no warning whatsoever. Believe it or not some people made good articles and those people put alot of effort into them. Doing such a extreme action would anger off those few who WORKED on good articles. Second, there is this site "Oh Internet" comes up when someone tries to go to EncyclopediaD. Sure, a redirect would be A-OK...If you explained to people why the heck they are getting redirected. Then, when some few go through the trouble to make an account and post here asking why, they essentially get met with members who show a mix of extreme arrogance, rudeness and Unwarranted Self Importance. Yes I am talking to those who are essentially saying that you don't want the editors of EncyclopediaD. And third there is the lack of a release of the complete archive. I have already heard a few horror stories about someone uploading a partial archive to another site and getting threatened with a lawsuit by the owner. Honestly, this is not a civil way to treat a previously loyal fanbase. All they want is the archive so they can restore another version of EncyclopediaD.

tl;dr Me and others would probably be ok with this if you had warned us in advance, given us an actual reason, treated some people crying about something they enjoyed with a measure of decency and uploaded a complete archive for others.

I saw you tagged Modem with softwarecat and that your edit summary was "meh it's really hardware." "Modem" was in the software section of Oh_Internet:Needed. I wasn't sure what to do with it either. I'm feeling a little "cramped" by the selection of forms. I think the forms are great: they help QC and prevent the creation of automatically-bad articles.
