Summary
VampireFreaks is a social networking website for people who haven't realized that being goth or emo is no longer trendy. It has many features, including member profiles, forums, and band networking. It even has dark orders (idiotically called "cults") dedicated to mysterious things like anime and lesbianism. As with all niche social networking sites, the main pursuit of the users seems to be finding "love", and many a couple have been joined in super-edgy satanic union through the dark majick of the website.
However, not all is rainbows and butterflies at VampireFreaks.com. The website has been connected to a number of rapes, murders, and rape/murders that occurred in various places around the USA. Of course, these things are bound to happen with any social networking site, right?
Origins
The website was founded in 1999 by Jethro Berelson as a forum centered around industrial music. It eventually expanded into the social networking website that is loved and loathed today.
Current status
The website is experiencing a slow decline in activity, and they are apparently attempting to restore it with street teams.
