Web 2.0 is a philosophy and obnoxious buzzword used mostly by two sets of people:
- software industry professionals talking about features and layout
- people who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about and say it to give the impression they aren't "behind the times"
Web 2.0 is a term meant to describe interactivity, simplicity, collaboration, and user-friendly design in web applications and development. Lots of Web 2.0 design principles exist, but the key ones are the KISS rule and keeping your major draws visible.
People who use "Web 2.0" as a buzzword are frequently trying to impress their supervisors or in-laws and are safely ignored.
Web 2.0 is most commonly used by folks in the software industry when they're talking about a forward-thinking idea or layout. Google+ is a good example of a Web 2.0 design.
