Summary
WhatPort80 was the toned-down, colorful twin of Encyclopedia Dramatica. Some people thought that it was a site for meme-related merchandise or a candy store because of its colorful, flashy layout.
Origins
It was created so one could look up certain internet things in a public place without being kicked out of the room, such as a library or on a college computer, without being forced to resort to freaking KYM.
Oh, and because ED needed more ad revenue.
Current status
It and Encyclopedia Dramatica have been merged to form this very site.
Facts
- Its purpose was to be a toned-down version of ED, for safe reading in say, college libraries.
