A defunct website that had politics mixed with porn - too easily confused with the real White House website.

Summary
The real White House website is at whitehouse.gov. But usually people think a website is a ".com," and for generations many Americans (kids included) have accidentally landed upon Whitehouse.com, a place for uncensored political discussion and lots of porn.
Origins
Ramsom Scott created whitehouse.com. In May 1997 Dan Parisi bought the site and converted it into a porn site. The site, which previously had modest, stagnating traffic, exploded in pageviews, leading Parisi to conclude that people really want porn on the internet.
The real White House mailed a cease and desist letter to the website. It ignored the letter, and nothing happened. In 2004 Parisi sold the domain deliberately so it would not be a porn site again.
Current status
Long gone. It even has the dubious distinction of being excluded from WayBackMachine's archives.
