Summary

12chan was a website that was intended to be a haven for jailbait and child models. While this is not a positive intent, it was not technically illegal. However, the site became known as a place where CP and other illegal materials were traded. For this, the site was eventually shut down by the FBI.

Origins

Founded in September of 2006, 12chan was an illfated website. This is likely due to the amount of illegal content that was regularly posted on the site.

Current status

The domain now redirects to Reddit. Though after its death, many similar boards followed in suit. Many of which have been shut down due to the same reason 12chan was originally brought down.
