Summary

Anime (アニメ in Japanese) is a notable animation style common in East Asian countries, notably Japan. Weeaboos have made it a point to note that anime is different than standard American animation, in both style and plots used. Anime is in general the one with the big eyes and normally bigger breasts. It's also structured a little differently to fit on Japanese television, with different ad times and that sort of thing.

Origins

Japan, some time in the 1900s. Earliest usage dates back to 1917, though many argue that Astro Boy, made by Osamu Tezuka, was the first true anime. The Anime art style began with Osamu Tezuka, and he got the idea from Betty Boop and Disney cartoons.

Current status

Still big today. There are a few good ones out there, but most of it sucks.
