Applemilk1988 (Emily Connor aka Emiry) is an American vloggger, musician and model who lives in Japan. After one of her YouTube videos was posted on 4chan's /b/ in 2007, she was at the center of a minor storm of Internet drama, mostly confined to YouTube and LiveJournal, as well as chat logs revealing certain aspects of her sexual health.
Originally from New York, Emily moved to Japan with dreams of becoming a pop star. Instead, she ended up doing what most Americans in Japan do for a living - teaching English. She also starred in a softcore porn DVD or two.
Born in New York, May 25, 1989, discovered by 4chan in March of 2007.
Rise to fame
Someone posted a YouTube video on 4chan in the spring of 2007, with predictable results. After different aspects of her Internet presence were discovered, she and her Internet Posse arrived on 4chan's /b/ to do some trolling. Later in the year, her YouTube, Facebook and Stickam accounts were broken into. By 2008 she had been thoroughly doxed.
Despite the trolling and assorted Internet drama, Emily continued working on her "career", with her first "break" coming around September 2008: the release of Emily: Debut, a "gravure" DVD.
While "gravure" modeling is not unusual or based in any sort of fetish beyond the basic appeal of a young and reasonably attractive woman in her underwear or a swimsuit, the Japanese need a special word for everything. In this case, "gravure" indicates very softcore material which may be entirely Safe For Work with some employers.
Emily: Debut consisted of approximately an hour's worth of Emily walking around a fairly nice apartment and posing in a white bikini (which goes well with her extremely pale skin), a black dress and underwear, and taking a bath (with her underwear on). Aside from a little bit of stripping, the video is surpisingly non-sexual, or maybe it's just her. She has appeared in at least one more "gravure" DVD, but no one has seen it, probably due to the underwhelming nature of Debut. It may involve her posing in a "Gothic Lolita" style outfit.
Singer for oh sunshine, a Japanese indie-rock duo with at least one single or EP release under their belt, and a performance at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX, getting a mention in the New York Times.
