Summary
Autism Macros, also known as "/jp/'s autism" or simply "wall of text insult macros," are a special breed of image macro, the intent of which is both to mock those who overuse certain memes and to clutter as much misspelled text as possible onto an otherwise normal image.
Autism Macros are the final solution of image macros, come together like an unholy sandwich of NO U, U MAD, butthurt, stupidity and Kindergarten level insults, topped off with a bit of autism and nerd rage. Knowing this, it's not surprising that they became somewhat popular on the 'chans.
Despite being so obviously juvenile and immature that nobody could possibly take them seriously, some people still manage to get upset when these images are posted in their threads.
Origins
This meme originates from /jp/, the 4chan board for otaku culture, which is why most of the images feature anime characters. The macros were originally directed at specific posters, particularly a tripfag who took his namesake from a Melty Blood character by the name of Sion Eltnam Atlasia. The original image, seen adorning the top of this page, was made to satirize Sion's posting style, but the meme has branched out far beyond this initial goal.
The images proved to be quite popular and were picked up by /sp/ for some reason. Soon after the trend spread to /a/, /v/, /mu/, and pretty much everywhere else on the site, as well as to other sites affiliated with *chan culture.
When asked what this meme was called, /jp/ has only ever come to the conclusion that they represent the board's collective autism and stupid posting habits, so they became known as "/jp/'s autism" or "Sion's autism." Some Anonymous have suggested that they be called "anti-macros" since they're essentially parodies of other macros that have a theme of insult or ownage and such. However, this name hasn't really stuck, so Autism Macros they shall remain.
