Butthurt is a state of emotional indignation, like one has actually been violated in the posterior. This feeling is usually in reaction to being insulted directly or indirectly, often as a result of being trolled. Initially, the term 'butthurt' was (and still sometimes is) taken as a token of weakness, implying the distressed individual is reacting strongly to a weak stimuli, making them childish and whiny. This only leads to further butthurt, and the chain reaction eventually leads to 'asshurt' and the logical conclusion 'taintsore'.

As trolling ascends to a high and more practiced art of sport, the butthurt index has been steadily dropping with occasional reversals, some arguing the Law of the Conservation of Butthurt. The law states that butthurt cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred. Therefore, many trolls are stricken with butthurt themselves early in their internet career, and the only way to unload it is to become a troll and badger another user until they've absorbed the troll's butthurt - relieving the troll and creating a new potential troll.

The primary cause for alarm in this observation is the potential for an Asshurt Gravitational Collapse, in which a butthurt individual does not counter-troll yet continues to be trolled, leading to an overload of butthurt past the Event Horizon, in which there is no calming the individual who proceeds to descend into a manic, unexpected mass troll explosion... usually involving automatic weapons and a shopping mall.

Common usage

This term is usually used to mock a person with such a feeling of psychological hurt. It's commonly invoked as a demeaning term, and has a unique self-fulling property. Whether or not the victim is actually butthurt, mentioning that they are will automatically cause them to become butthurt. It's a crucial tool in a troll's arsenal. Once a 'butthurt' is used, further 'butthurts' can be tacked on in response to any and all rebukes for a swift escalation into rage and an equally swift end to the argument itself.
