ConceptArt

Professional and highly-skilled amateur art collective that frowns on coloring other people's work and crappy stick-figure renditions of Sonichu.

Summary

ConceptArt.org is a different animal than DeviantArt and other art-sharing websites. DeviantArt clearly accepts all skill levels and devotions to art, and as a result many of the users (who are teenagers) use DeviantArt as a social networking site and don't think about giving professional critiques to pieces of artwork. ConceptArt.org is a site where professionals and art students (as well as some highly skilled amateurs) come to review and critique each others' work. If Joe shows a poorly-drawn figure with a lack of anatomy or other professional artist concepts (even if he uses PhotoShop to try to mask this), the users will ask Joe to review the fundamentals and wonder if he is a troll. If Joe reacts negatively and acts better than everyone else, then he will never become respected on the site. If Ashley posts an image where she doesn't know the basics but is struggling and clearly indicates that she needs help, the users will tell her how to get better. Then when she appears months later and posts improved artwork, ConceptArt users will give her genuine praise.

Facts

  • There's lots of art.
  • After Manky83 submitted a very poorly made drawing of a scorpion and a wasp to the "finished" section the CA userbase thought it was so hilarious that "scorpion and wasp" became a symbol of laughably bad art
