Summary
The first thing you should know is that Fark.com isn't a Weblog. Fark.com, the Web site, is a news aggregator and an edited social networking news site. The content of the front page is picked out of a pool of thousands of links of different kinds of news, many of which are broken up into different categories.
Fark isn't an acronym. It doesn't mean anything. The idea was to have the word Fark come to symbolize news that is really Not News. Hence the slogan "It's not news, it's Fark."
Origins
For the first two years following the fark.com domain registration, there was little more than a picture of a squirrel with his nuts. By 1999, Drew Curtis decided to take a new approach and launched the Fark website in pretty much the format that it appears in today.
Current status
Fark still exists, though it's often forgotten by non-Farkers. With the rise of other user-submitted news aggregation sites such as Digg and Reddit its relevance is questionable. In 2009, Fark partnered with old media outlet USA Today to outline technology news stories.
