Summary
Gamefaqs is a large message board, intended for Video Game discussion, but also has spots for discussion of all types. Though it did create some memes, it now isn't as influential in that department. It's a regular game discussion site, but it does have it's own culture to it, being strictly moderated, and lacking images/video on the site. The site also contains the notorious LUE board, which is restricted to newcomers. LUE was considered by some to be a "/B/ lite". LUE was closed to new members, and since then has declined in usage. Other, more posted on social boards exist as well, many of them supported by gamefaqs, and others exist on message boards for old obscure games.
Origins
Created in 1995. Sold to Cnet in 2003.
Current status
Still exists, gamefaqs is a bit more under control these days, compared to how it was in the LUE days.
