A forced meme taken from a commercial for Sakura-Con 2009.
- Date Discovered: 03/2009

The meme is primarily a screencap of a somewhat overweight fan of Japanese visual kei band Girugamesh pointing and shouting their name, or variations thereof. The remainder of the video was mostly non-notable, with the exception of one subject shouting "gaming," pronounced "gay men." The entire video, however, is rather laughable and its production values leave much to be desired.
The video itself was produced as an advertisement for 2009's Sakuracon by voice actor Vic Mignogna. 4chan's /cgl/ and /a/ boards discovered it and proceeded to mock various aspects of the lackluster acting before on the 10th of March, 2009, /a/ was botspammed with images of the smiling, heavily made up Girugamesh fan. /b/ soon followed, with other boards falling victim shortly thereafter.
As it happened, bans were handed out to various users and the meme itself was considered obviously forced, since it was essentially spam. Regardless, after the initial onslaught passed, GIRUGAMESH was used from time to time to humorous effect.
- Girugamesh is a bastardization of the name Gilgamesh, from which the band took their name.
