Philosoraptor - as is obvious by the template - is an Advice Dog variant, and has become extremely popular.

Summary

Philosoraptor depicts a velociraptor holding itself in a philosophical pose, and - like all Advice dog variants - includes text related to the name. Sometimes Philosoraptor texts are simple philosophical problems or theses, but usually they're funny problems related to other internet memes (like the 'Rule 34' philosoraptor).

Origins

Philosoraptor started as a t-shirt design, and like many such images text started being put over the top of it. When this started isn't exactly known, but 4chan helped gain notoriety for the meme, and it's possible that it originated from there, as it does hold one of the first recorded instances of philosoraptor on February 18th 2009 (though the meme hit a large stride some months before that).

Current status

The meme has become a classic, like many Advice-Dog variants (such as Insanity Wolf and Socially Awkward Penguin). Memegenerator is the most common source for philosoraptor variants, and has the meme listed under 'Demi-God Tier'. The meme is no longer considered 'over-used', and it's considered acceptable to use Philosoraptor in situations on the internet.
