Derp +When used on an image macro, the image typically is of a human or animal with crossed eyes. A corruption of the 1980s term "duh", derp has seen new popularity on chan boards.

Douche +Douchebag, Douche, and other v Douchebag, Douche, and other variations are common insults on the internet and in real life, typically directed at males. The insult is frequently used on IRC channels, forums, comments sections, and everywhere else people trade barbs. Numerous sites have even appeared that document and critique douchebag behavior. In the business/technology world, self-proclaimed social media "experts" have rightly earned the "douchebag" title. Its use as an insult is usually considered too extreme by old media standards, but it is widely used in blogs, internet magazines, and online conversations. It is less offensive than motherf*ucker or c*cksucker, though it is more potent than calling someone a jerk or an ass. calling someone a jerk or an ass.
Dox +The term is generally used by hackers and The term is generally used by hackers and trolls. Dox are posted and shared on websites and chan boards in order to instigate some form of IRL action against an individual or group of individuals. Typically the collating of a person's dox involves the meticulous scouring of the internet for any trace of their activity being connected to real-world information pertaining to the target individual, followed by formatting the information into a neat document (sometimes with tasteful ASCII art adorning the head) and the posting of said information to a website such as pastebin. Methods of action taken against doxed individuals range from pestering phone calls, email bombs, emails to employers and pizza delivery. s, emails to employers and pizza delivery.

EPIC +"Epic" is overused on both the web and [[I "Epic" is overused on both the web and IRL when someone posts something of note. Generally saying either "EPIC WIN" or "EPIC FAIL" in response to a given stimuli will land you an inconspicuous slot in the Chan ranks, though in more sophisticated forums you'll be belittled as a child and "one of those kids." For the sake of bettering the internets and promoting peace where you seek it, never use the word "Epic", as the word itself isn't epic. "Epic", as the word itself isn't epic.
Ear Rape +Similar to how a shock image can be extrem Similar to how a shock image can be extremely distressful to the eyes, Ear Rape is the audio equivalent and is also used quite frequently by trolls for an invariably painful experience on the the part of the viewer. The only difference between a Shock Image and an Ear Raping sound effect is that A: A person can become used to seeing grotesque images on the internet, but something loud will never cease to cause true pain; and B: It is easier to force somebody to listen to something loud by way of a hidden embedded music file on a webpage or a trap video on YouTube than an image plastered across the top of the website. However, the only problem with that is that while both trolling techniques have their disadvantages, Ear Rape is the most susceptible to its own. Since most blind people cannot or choose to not access the internet, potential Ear Rape fodder is lost. Because the internet is a largely visual medium, there are plenty of deaf people or those without speakers using it. That is why Ear Rape is not seen as often as shock images, but it still can be very effective when one is not expecting it and has their volume set on high. The pain in question is usually described by the viewer as the uploader's manhood unconsentingly thrusting into his ear canal and piercing his ear drums, hence the term "Ear Rape." ear drums, hence the term "Ear Rape."

Free To Play +Usually used in the context of video games, more specifically MMOs.
Friend zone +Essentially, the Friend Zone is a figurati Essentially, the Friend Zone is a figurative place that a man (it's mostly men) enters when they like a girl that only considers them a friend. Often, the guy (who will be henceforth referred to as Prima) will just go about their daily life treating the girl like a friend lest she discover his affections, whereas the girl (Secunda) will just be totally oblivious to the fact that Prima likes her and assume he's just a really Nice Guy. Prima will be torn by the fact that he sees this girl every day but she doesn't and won't return his affections that she has no knowledge of, and Secunda just treats him like a good friend or - and this is the death knell for Prima's chances - a brother. The root cause of this is often a certain shyness or lack of confidence. When a guy approaches a girl he likes and wants to ask her out, the most straightforward way (and one that has been proven to be successful by everyone who has ever been on a date) is to ask the girl out, with no pretense involved. But most guys who end up in the Friend Zone were trying to be nice to the girl they had a crush on in an attempt to get her to return his affections, and hope that it would make her uncontrollably fall in love with him. The logic here is that girls totally end up with the lead actor in TV shows, regardless of prior relationships, or that girls always say they want nice guys so kindness must be sexually attractive to them. The real root cause is that Prima is approaching it the way he'd like women to approach him/thinks women are normally approached/is too nervous to just straight out ask for a date. Guys in the friend zone are normally unattractive but friendly people who don't have the qualities that the girl is looking for, like confidence or looks. The kinds of guys in the Friend Zone are typically awkward nerds and varieties of nerds or anyone who hasn't had much experience with a girl before, however, it can happen to anyone in many cases if they're not careful. The Friend Zone is a common topic in any kind of dating discussion on the internet thanks to the amount of awkward people who participate in these sorts of things, and they're emotional experience with it. There's two ways out of the Friend Zone, which are 1) Move on and learn from it or 2) make the girl your girlfriend. Number 1 is hard, number 2 is often impossible. Guys tend to stay in the Friend Zone for just about forever before finally getting out, and after that, many of them end up cynical and misogynistic about girls and complain about how they think they only like bad boys. ut how they think they only like bad boys.
Ftfy +It is used to "fix" or change what another poster in a thread has said. It often has sarcastic or "snarky" connotations.
Furry +Used to describe those who are into the furry fandom, or rarely used to describe those into some form of bestiality.
Fursona +As being a portmanteau of 'furry' and 'per As being a portmanteau of 'furry' and 'persona' would suggest, fursona is most often used when divulging information about the character which a furry likes to play. This word tends to appear a lot when furries are discussing various different aspects of their characters amongst themselves, such as the species their fursona is, sex, markings and any other characteristics which may stand out (and it must be emphasized that 'standing out' in this context tends to have some very weird connotations). to have some very weird connotations).
