Summary
RAGE (also FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU, RAEG, KIRBYRAEG, and countless other expressions of fury) is simply an image expressing a poster's uncontrollable anger towards a subject, usually another poster or an OP with which he or she disagrees.
Origins
The original KIRBYRAEG image was spammed on 7chan's /b/ board and inevitably leaked to 4chan as well. Within a week or so, the moderators of 7chan set the image at the top of /b/, as well as renaming everyone as "KIRBY" rather than Anonymous. Because of this, kirbyraeg is often believed to be the work of mods in order to troll the users of their own imageboard.
Current status
Rage images still spring up regularly, and whether it was forced or not, rage seems to be here to stay.
