Summary
Strutting Leo is an “exploitable” meme that cropped up from the likes of 4chan and Fark’s photoshop contests. The photograph depicts Leonardo DiCaprio happily strolling on the set of Inception.
The image is perfect for a bit of shooping and the Strutting Leo craze saw our eponymous hero strutting through any number of dire, funny, disastrous, ridiculous or inane circumstances.
Origins
This meme was first found on Fark, quickly spread to 4chan and got widespread usage in reddit very quickly.
Current status
The internet will probably be seeing Strutting Leo t-shirts, mouse pads, and coffee mugs for years to come. It is incredibly mainstream and popular. Even those who are not familiar with internet culture may have seen it, and it is readily apparent what the joke is.
