Summary
You're the man now dog! (also known as YTMND) is a website where users create mini-web pages using images and looping sounds to be funny or make a statement. With almost 1,000,000 of these pages and over 320,000 registered users YTMND is a mainstay of LOL Internet culture and the birthplace of many memes.
Origins
In 2001 a young Max Goldberg created a website called yourethemannowdog.com that featured an image of Sean Connery with a loop of his voice playing in the background from the movie Finding Forrester stating that "You're the man now, dog". From there other sites sprung up on the internet with similar themes. Goldberg created ytmnd.com in April of 2004 as a place where users could easily create these sites and share them with others.
Current status
YTMND has fallen mostly into obscurity, and its functionality has become largely obsoleted by YouTube. Compared to some other websites past its peak such as Something Awful, its presence on the Internet is far less prevalent then it was. Still, it remains a notable place for those who have known the Internet long enough.
